10 Daughters is an interdisciplinary presentation by artist Jereh Leung showcased at Objectifs - Centre for Photography & Film. Weaving installation, lighting and live performance, it is a journey of liberation, care and self-actualisation vis-a-vis the context of domestic space.


 

How do we translate the vulnerabilities of the work that is contemplative, yet playful and at the same time bring together personal narratives, fiction and impressions of the artist’s memories of growing up?

Drawing from the artist’s childhood experiences and his mother, the key visual ruminates on the conceptions of domesticity and womanhood across time and generations.

Inspired by the Carnation flower, found in household (food) brands: Nestle/ Carnation milk. Juxtaposing the softness of flower to it’s harsher close-up textures for artwork digitalisation and experimenting of red ink acrylic on cloth that led to these textures:
