As the chosen theme, NLB Read! Fest 2021: Reboot was a reminder to enjoy the process of growth. To keep present in the moments of change, wherever it takes place.

The annual festival encourages readers to expand their perspectives, to be pulled along by an unending sense of curiosity. To always be stretching what we know, to occupy the spaces inhabit with a sense of dreaming, joy and resilience.


 

To view the world through a shifting lens allows a multitude of selves. Endless potential, to be embraced.

A PARTICIPATING AUDIENCE

As part of the festival, and a few months after a nationwide lockdown, interactive booths were developed for several libraries. These became an opportunity for a moment of pause and reflection, not just as individuals but as an expression of the collective experience.

We asked visitors — what has changed for you in the year since? Do you hike now? Is there a spot in your neighbourhood you’ve become fully at home with? Where do you feel tension? What has brought you calm?
